I chose the Overseas Teachers – Creative Methodology
course because I’m a teacher in Saudi Arabia and
I’ve wanted to learn some new techniques. The topics
and modules of the course were very relevant to my teaching
and the school where I work.
Teaching is a very enjoyable profession and English is
so important these days because of globalisation and the
internet etc. You can also travel and meet people from
around the world. It brings great satisfaction to be helping
people and bridge understanding between people from different
cultures.
The course was excellent. We did lots of activities and
learned many new concepts and methods such as the lexical
approach. I will share many of these new ideas and techniques
with my colleagues in Saudi Arabia when I return. The
course is so dynamic, I really learned a lot. It’s
also quite flexible, as well as the set topics some activities
were adapted to our needs in the class.
My teacher Soraya is very good. She’s enthusiastic
and helpful, gives lots of examples and gives us experience
of practical situations. The materials were very useful
and we learned how to make effective use of handouts,
the latest books and how to customise activities. I would
definitely recommend her and the college.
The facilities here are fantastic. The café bar
serves quick meals and sandwiches with good service from
the polite staff. The library has all books that we needed
and you can makes copies in the library from a wide range
of materials from prominent ELT authors.
My accommodation in the university summer residence at
Frances Gardner House is very comfortable and conducive
to study. I have a private study room with an en-suite
bathroom. It’s also very close and convenient for
reaching the college.
Oxford House College is a very professional institution.
The staff are all very helpful and friendly. The teachers
are real experts, the facilities are wonderful. I’ve
found my stay to be very enjoyable, informative, educational
and entertaining.
As the college is in a very central part of London it’s
convenient for seeing the sights after class. I’ve
enjoyed visiting Big Ben, Westminster Abbey and Buckingham
Palace for instance. London is great, because it’s
so cosmopolitan and free spirited.
