The International English Language Testing System
(IELTS) is an examination that tests your English ability in academic
contexts. It provides proof that you have the English language
skills necessary to study at a university in the UK (and also in
Australia, Canada and New Zealand). The College provides two IELTS
courses: Introduction to IELTS and IELTS
Examination Preparation
To join the Introduction to IELTS course, you need to have a level of English at B1 on the Council of Europe’s Common European Framework for modern languages (Intermediate). The course lasts up to 12 weeks, and you can normally start any Monday.
To join the IELTS Examination Preparation course, you need to have a level of English at B2 on the Council of Europe’s Common European Framework for modern languages (Upper-Intermediate).
This
course also lasts up to 12 weeks, and you can normally start any
Monday. Students have practice in all 4 parts of the examination – Speaking,
Listening, Reading and Writing.This practice includes examination
tasks and mock exams.
You can take the IELTS examination in London,
and application forms are available in the Library. The Director
of Studies will help you complete the IELTS application form.
